Mark Zuckerberg's spending plans hint at further layoffs and changes within Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Meta plans to spend up to $135 billion on AI projects this year, more than double its spending last year. The company's 2025 financial results showed that expenses rose faster than revenues, squeezing profit margins. Mark Zuckerberg expects "2026 to be the year that AI dramatically changes the way we work". He hinted at further layoffs at Meta, citing increased productivity among employees using AI tools. Some industry leaders warn of an AI bubble, similar to the dotcom boom in 2000. Meta's spending on AI infrastructure is expected to total nearly $140 billion over four years.
