Sun, 01 Feb 2026 French tech giant Capgemini to sell US subsidiary working for ICE

The firm's move comes amid global scrutiny of the methods used by the US immigration enforcement agency.
Capgemini, a French technology giant, has announced it will sell its US subsidiary due to controversy over a contract with ICE that sparked international outrage. The company's work in locating people for immigration enforcement agency ICE led to criticism from French lawmakers and protests across the US following two fatal shootings by Border Patrol agents. Capgemini Government Solutions had been contracted since December 18th to provide "skip tracing services" for ICE, which is set to be paid over $4.8m until March 15th. The company stated that it could not control certain aspects of the subsidiary's operations and would initiate a divestiture process immediately. This decision comes after increased scrutiny of ICE practices following the shooting of US citizens Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. Capgemini's CEO Aiman Ezzat had previously expressed concern about the contract, stating that it raised questions compared to the company's typical work as a technology firm. French politicians have called for transparency and sanctions against companies working with ICE.
