Pump price changes will have to be shared in a government database within 30 minutes.
* Drivers can now compare fuel prices across all petrol stations in the UK, as part of a government scheme called the Fuel Finder Scheme.
* From Monday, garages and fuel stations must report their prices to third-party apps and websites within 30 minutes.
* The average household could save £40 per year by shopping around for the best price.
* Motorists can pay up to 20p more per litre depending on where they fill up in the UK.
* The scheme will allow drivers to find the best deals and spur competition among fuel retailers.
* The government's database policy was first proposed by the Conservatives in 2023 and announced in last year's Budget.
