A survey by the students' union found that this cost is a significant burden on students, with some having to spend up to £20 per week on laundry. Female students are particularly affected, as they often need to do more laundry due to their periods. Students on certain courses, such as nursing, have additional laundry costs due to the requirement for uniforms. The university claims that its laundry rates are lower than those of local commercial laundrettes, but students argue that the high prices are unfair and create added financial pressure in an already expensive city.
