Thu, 05 Feb 2026 Quiz enters administration for third time

Some 109 jobs will be cut at the company's headquarters and distribution centre in Scotland.
Fashion retailer Quiz has entered administration for the third time in six years, with 109 staff in Scotland at risk of losing their jobs. The company's struggles have been ongoing since last year, and administrators say it has been impacted by poor sales over Christmas. All 40 stores and seven concessions remain open but will be holding clearance sales and not accepting refunds. Quiz's online store is now closed. The redundancies will affect staff at the company's head office in Glasgow and distribution centre in Bellshill. Quiz employs around 565 people across its UK operations. Interpath, the restructuring advisor managing the administration, says that concession stands operating in New Look and Matalan stores are not affected by the administration process. Administrators blame "strong economic headwinds" for Quiz's struggles, including changing consumer habits, business rates, and increased employment costs. Clothing retailers have been hit hard in recent years due to competition from ultra-fast-fashion brands like Shein. Quiz has entered administration twice before, once in 2020 and again in February last year. In 2017, the company raised over £100m by listing on the London Stock Exchange. Administrators Interpath said they will continue to trade all stores as a going concern for as long as possible while assessing options for the business. Affected staff will receive support during this difficult time. Quiz's bricks-and-mortar stores are immediately launching clearance sales, but any products purchased after February 5th may not be eligible for returns unless faulty. Customers who have already returned items online but yet to receive a refund should contact their card payment provider for assistance.
