The charity's founder says the supermarket also aims to help users get support from other services.
The Plate of Plenty social supermarket was previously run out of a cupboard under the stairs at The Makery in Abbeygate Shopping Centre, but has now moved into its own dedicated space due to increased demand. According to founder Sioux Watkins, the charity hopes to expand its services to include a community kitchen where people can learn about food and cooking.
The Plate of Plenty social supermarket currently operates on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00-14:00, but may extend its opening hours to Mondays if more volunteers come forward.
