Tue, 10 Feb 2026 Wegovy maker sues rival over 'knock-off' weight-loss drugs

Novo Nordisk says Hims & Hers' drugs breach its patent; Hims & Hers calls the lawsuit a "blatant attack".
Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer of weight-loss medications Ozempic and Wegovy, has filed a lawsuit against Hims & Hers in US courts over allegations that the rival company's versions of its drugs are "unsafe" and "knock-off" copies. Novo Nordisk claims that Hims & Hers' products are not approved by US authorities and infringe on its patent. The move comes after Hims & Hers launched a new weight-loss pill, which was initially threatened with litigation before the company voluntarily stopped selling it. The lawsuit aims to "protect public health" and defend scientific innovations, according to Novo Nordisk. However, Hims & Hers accused Novo Nordisk of "weaponizing the US judicial system" to limit consumer choice. The case highlights the growing trend of low-cost copycat weight-loss drugs entering the market following patent expirations, with some raising concerns about their safety.
