Wed, 11 Feb 2026 More than 180 survivors engaged in Harrods abuse redress scheme

The late Mohamed Al Fayed has been accused of sexual harassment during his time as owner.
Over 180 survivors of alleged abuse by Mohammed Al Fayed, former owner of Harrods, are currently part of its compensation scheme. The luxury retailer has already paid out more than £50m to over 50 women and has set aside more than £60m for victims. Those who agree to be assessed by a consultant psychiatrist can receive up to £385,000 in compensation plus treatment costs. Applications submitted before March 31 will still be processed after the deadline. Harrods will also continue offering counselling support to survivors, including through its Independent Survivor Advocate role. Multiple women have accused Al Fayed of rape and sexual assault, with 146 people reporting a crime as part of the Met Police's investigation into him. Harrods has said it wants to provide justice for victims, but some lawyers representing survivors have expressed concerns about the compensation scheme, citing a lack of independence.
