Scottish salmon exports increased in tonnage by 9%, while the volume of Scotch whisky exports dropped by 4.3%.
Scottish Salmon Exports:
* Scottish salmon exports retained their position as the UK's biggest food export, with 111,000 tonnes exported overseas.
* The value of exports decreased by £16m to £828m due to a drop in average price.
* China was the third-biggest export market for Scottish salmon, with sales worth £97m and an increase of 28% by value.
* The Chinese market prefers larger fish, which command a premium price, especially during Chinese New Year celebrations.
Scotch Whisky Exports:
* Scotch whisky exports fell by less than 1% to £4.36bn in value, but the total volume exported decreased by 4.3%.
* The US remained the biggest export market for Scotch whisky, with sales worth £933m.
* India was the largest importer of Scotch by volume, importing nearly twice as much as the USA.
Tariffs:
* Tariffs imposed on imports arriving in the USA had an impact on both Scottish salmon and Scotch whisky exports.
* The 10% tariff on imported spirits is set to be replaced with a 25% tariff on single malt Scotch, which could affect export figures.
