Sat, 14 Feb 2026 Andrew facing claim he shared Treasury document with banking contact

Reports suggest the former prince shared a Treasury document when he was serving as trade envoy.
Prince Andrew faces fresh allegations over sharing official documents with personal business contacts, including emails that suggest he passed on sensitive information from the Treasury to one of his associates. The emails, published by the Telegraph, appear to show Prince Andrew asking for an update on banking problems in Iceland in 2010. The briefing was then shared with Jonathan Rowland, a businessman whose father David Rowland took over part of a failing Icelandic bank. Prince Andrew's office has not commented directly on the allegations, but the Cabinet Office said it would not dispute the authenticity of the emails. Thames Valley Police are currently assessing whether to launch an investigation into possible misconduct in public office. The alleged sharing of official documents with private associates is the latest controversy surrounding Prince Andrew, who has already faced accusations of misusing his public role as trade envoy. The allegations have been further fueled by reports that police held informal discussions with the government about emails and documents relating to Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein. Previous emails from the Epstein files suggested that Prince Andrew had forwarded official documents to Epstein, including confidential briefings on investment in Afghanistan. The new allegations raise questions over whether Prince Andrew was using his public role for personal gain or to benefit his associates. Jonathan Rowland has denied any wrongdoing and said he was not aware of the reference to him in the emails. His father David Rowland's bank, Banque Havilland, had made loans to Prince Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, according to the Epstein files. The allegations are the latest blow to Prince Andrew's reputation, which has been damaged by his association with Epstein and other controversies over the years.
