The restaurant industry says it is facing a double whammy - rising costs and customers with less money.
Petrit Velaj, owner of Manchester's Rozafa restaurant, says that for every £100 taken in, his business spends approximately £55 on various taxes, leaving him with £45 to cover other costs such as gas, electricity, rent, food and wages.
The cost of living crisis has had a significant impact on people's disposable incomes, with 63% of respondents citing price rises as the main reason for eating out less frequently in a recent YouGov report.
