Fri, 20 Feb 2026 Asos co-founder dies after Thailand apartment block fall

Quentin Griffiths co-founded Asos in 2000 and remained a significant shareholder after leaving the firm five years later.
Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of online fashion retailer Asos, died in Pattaya, Thailand after falling from a 17th floor apartment block on February 9. Thai police investigated his death and found no evidence of foul play or break-ins at the time of the incident. Griffiths was a British passport holder who had been staying in the luxury hotel as a long-term resident. He had co-founded Asos in 2000 with Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan, and Deborah Thorpe and remained a significant shareholder after leaving the company five years later. An autopsy did not reveal any signs of foul play or trauma that could have contributed to his death. Griffiths was involved in two ongoing court cases, which may have caused him stress. He had also been engaged in a legal dispute with his second wife over their business. Asos has issued a statement expressing sadness and gratitude for Griffiths' contributions to the company.
