* Stern forwarded a news article about EMI's financial woes to Epstein in 2010 and mentioned the potential deal.
* Epstein replied that he was interested and suggested putting US businessman Tommy Mottola, former CEO of Sony Music, in charge of the deal.
* Lord Mandelson, who was First Secretary of State and Business Secretary at the time, exchanged emails with Epstein about the potential deal.
* Stern also discussed a bid for EMI with other associates in 2011, but the deal did not go ahead.
* Citigroup eventually split EMI into two parts and sold it to Universal and a consortium involving Sony and David Geffen in 2012.
