Mon, 23 Feb 2026 Porn company fined £1.35m by Ofcom over age check failings

Ofcom's £1.35m fine on 8579 LLC is the largest it has levied under the Online Safety Act so far.

* Ofcom has fined porn company 8579 LLC £1.35m for failing to introduce proper age verification measures on its websites.
* The fine is Ofcom's largest under the Online Safety Act (OSA) so far, and comes after a probe that began within days of the age check rules taking effect in July 2025.
* 8579 LLC has also been fined an additional £50,000 for not responding to Ofcom's information requests.
* The company must implement robust methods to check UK visitors are over 18 on one remaining site by Monday or face a daily penalty of £1,000.
* Ofcom is requiring the company to provide a complete list of all sites it operates and has launched probes into many other porn sites lacking age checks.
