The technology giant had pledged to increase investment in the US by $600bn, under pressure from Trump.
Apple has announced plans to manufacture Mac Mini desktop computers and artificial intelligence servers at its factory in Houston, Texas, marking the company's first time producing Mac Minis in the US. This move comes as part of Apple's efforts to boost domestic production following pressure from US President Donald Trump. The iPhone maker had previously pledged to increase investment in the US by $600bn (£445bn). The Mac Mini accounts for less than 5% of Mac sales and is currently manufactured in Asia. Apple's chief executive Tim Cook said the company is "deeply committed" to American manufacturing and that the production of Mac Minis will start later this year. In addition, Apple plans to establish an advanced manufacturing training centre at its Houston location.
