Wayve says it's confident all cars will one day be autonomous, as it announced more than a £1bn in additional investment.
* Wayve, a British self-driving startup, has secured an additional $1.5bn (£1.1bn) in funding, valuing the company at around $8.6bn (£6.4bn).
* The firm's technology allows autonomous vehicles to drive on complex roads, including those with potholes.
* Wayve's boss, Alex Kendall, said that its AI can handle driving in London and other locations, despite the complexities of these environments.
* The company is set to launch robotaxis in London later this year as part of a partnership with Uber.
* Wayve faces competition from rivals such as Waymo, which plans to launch self-driving cars in the UK in September.
* Kendall predicts that all cars will be autonomous in the future and that the UK is well-positioned to become a global leader in autonomous vehicle regulation.
