Thu, 26 Feb 2026 Ocado to axe 1,000 jobs in cost-cutting drive

The technology and online grocery group is cutting about 5% of its global workforce, with two-thirds of the losses in the UK.

* Ocado Group plans to cut around 1,000 jobs (5% of its global workforce) over the next year as part of a cost-cutting plan.
* The majority of job cuts will be in the UK, with two-thirds expected to come from the company's headquarters in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
* The job losses are primarily expected to affect tech and support teams.
* Ocado aims to cut costs by around £150m through these changes.
* The company's shares have fallen by over 7% following the announcement of the job cuts.
* This move comes after Ocado reported a widening pre-tax loss at its continuing operations, which rose to £377.6m in the year to November 30.
* The company has also faced challenges with its North American partners, Kroger and Sobeys, who have shut down some of their Ocado-run warehouses due to low demand.
