Fri, 27 Feb 2026 Dyson settles forced labour suit in landmark UK case

Migrant workers alleged they were subjected to abusive treatment in a Malaysian factory for Dyson.

* Dyson agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by 24 migrant workers from Nepal and Bangladesh who alleged they were subjected to forced and abusive treatment in a Malaysian factory.
* The workers, who sued the firm in 2022, described being threatened and beaten, having their passports withheld, and being forced to work long hours in unsanitary conditions.
* Dyson had denied any liability and said it was unaware of the alleged abuses, with responsibility lying with the Malaysia supplier.
* As part of the settlement, details of compensation to the workers are not being disclosed.
* The case sets a precedent for British companies to be held accountable in UK courts for actions taken by suppliers abroad.
* The settlement is based on "the expenses of litigation and the benefits of settlement" without admitting liability on Dyson's part.
