The move announced on social media comes after a standoff between Anthropic's boss and the Ministry of Defense.
Anthropic refused demands from the White House that it grant the US military unfettered access to its AI tools. The company had grown concerned about the government potentially misusing its technology.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth deemed Anthropic a "supply chain risk", which would prohibit any business working with the military from doing commercial activity with the company.
Anthropic said it will challenge the designation in court, claiming it is legally unsound and sets a dangerous precedent for American companies negotiating with government.
