Sun, 01 Mar 2026 A firm hiring blind staff went bust - but its mission lives on

The business had been running for over 150 years before it collapsed, so one former employee took matters into her own hands.

* Former employees of Clarity, a UK social enterprise that collapsed five years ago, have been left with unpaid salaries and pensions.
* One of those affected, Camilla Marcus-Dew, has launched a new business called Amplify Goods to continue Clarity's mission in a new way.
* Amplify provides paid work experience for homeless people, disabled individuals, and prison leavers at the London living wage.
* The business offers employment opportunities and skills training, with customers including businesses that use their soap products in washrooms or as corporate gifts.
* Over half of Amplify's profits are donated to good causes, aligning with its social enterprise model.
* The business has already helped several individuals return to work, including Yusuf Hussein who was assisted in finding a new job in customer service at Waterloo Station.
* Marcus-Dew hopes that Amplify can make a significant impact and become a leading example of a social enterprise that prioritizes the employment and development of marginalized groups.
