Iran says it has closed the vital shipping channel to global trade.
Iran claims control of the area, stating that any ship trying to pass through would be targeted. As a result, key shipping routes are being disrupted and oil and gas production in the region is also affected.
The conflict has sparked concerns that global prices for petrol, food, and electronics could increase if the Strait of Hormuz were to be closed completely.
