Fri, 13 Mar 2026 KPop Demon Hunters to return as Netflix announces sequel

The sequel brings back the co-directors of the first film, which was a smash-hit for the streaming service.
Netflix has announced that it will be making a sequel to its record-breaking animated movie KPop Demon Hunters, which has been a huge success worldwide. The film, which tells the story of a group of demon-hunting K-pop stars, was the platform's most-watched movie ever and won several awards, including two Grammy Awards. Critics are predicting that it will win at least one Oscar this weekend. The sequel will be directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. The original film's voice actress Ejae has expressed her hopes for the sequel, saying she wants to incorporate more Korean music styles and show different sides of Korea. Another producer on the original film said he is also excited about the prospect of building on the success of Golden, the hit song from the movie. Netflix hasn't released any details yet about when the sequel will be released or what it will be about. But fans are eagerly anticipating more adventures with the characters from Huntr/x, a K-pop group who moonlight as demon hunters.
