Fri, 20 Mar 2026 Work from home and drive more slowly to save energy, global body urges

People should change how they travel, work and cook to tackle the energy price crisis, the International Energy Agency says.

* Reduce driving speed limits
* Encourage more working from home
* Preserve liquid petroleum gas for cooking and other essential uses by switching bio-fuel converted vehicles onto gas and introducing measures to reduce its use
* Focus on renewable energy generation and battery technology
* Increase investment in nuclear power generation
* Improve the efficiency of cars, reducing the amount of oil used per 100km Additionally, governments are advised to:
* Implement a four-day week for public servants (already introduced in some countries such as Pakistan and the Philippines)
* Limit air travel for public officials
* Shorten school and university hours
