Mia, a student, says it will lesson the burden on anyone spending hundreds of pounds on a dress.
A woman has set up a boutique where students can rent free prom dresses and suits. Tia Kilby established Prom ReStyle Daventry, serving two local schools. The idea came after she bought 10 inexpensive dresses for her daughters to try on, and then realized the potential to reuse them instead of letting them go to waste.
The project aims to provide affordable and sustainable options for students who cannot afford expensive prom attire. Since November, Kilby has collected around 180 dresses and 70 suits from various sources, but still needs more items to meet demand.
Pupils can make appointments to try on outfits at the boutique, reserve one that fits, and then return it after the event so that it can be used again next year. The initiative is open to all students, regardless of their financial situation or ability to afford expensive clothing.
