Fri, 17 Apr 2026 Finance ministers and top bankers raise serious concerns about Mythos AI model

Experts say Mythos potentially has an unprecedented ability to identify and exploit cybersecurity weaknesses.
The Canadian finance minister, François-Philippe Champagne, stated that "it's an unknown, unknown" and requires attention from all finance ministers to ensure the security of financial systems. Top bankers have been given access to the model to test their systems, with Barclays' CS Venkatakrishnan calling it a serious issue that needs to be addressed quickly. The Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey also expressed concern over the potential for cybercrime, stating that the new AI development makes it easier to detect existing vulnerabilities in IT systems. Financial industry sources have indicated that another US AI company is developing a similarly powerful model without the same safeguards, raising concerns about the security of financial systems.
