The firm will take data from the way employees work for its artificial intelligence models.
Meta will start tracking employees' keystrokes and mouse clicks on company computers and internal apps to train its AI models. A new tool called Model Capability Initiative (MCI) will log employee activity, which will be used as training data for AI technology. Meta says this is necessary to improve AI agents that assist with everyday tasks, but an anonymous employee described it as "very dystopian". This move comes after the company laid off around 2,000 employees and enacted a partial hiring freeze. Meta's plans for job cuts have been expected, and the company has removed many of its job listings, leaving only about 7 positions available.
