North Lincolnshire Council is encouraging households to sign up for a support scheme.
Over 600 households in North Lincolnshire that rely on heating oil have already signed up for financial help due to high prices caused by the Iran war. The UK government has allocated £50m to support those struggling with their oil bills, which are not capped like gas and electricity costs.
Households can register online for information about available financial support or visit community hubs for assistance with the registration process. The council leader Rob Waltham said that families in rural communities who rely on heating oil need help as they don't have the same protections as those using mains gas.
Some households that use heating oil have seen their bills double, had orders cancelled, or been unable to get supplies since the start of the war.
Registration for the support scheme is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
