Produce from Woking Community Grocery is offered to customers at a significantly reduced rate.
A community grocery shop opening in Woking, Surrey aims to provide low-cost groceries to those struggling with the cost of living while maintaining a normal shopping experience. The shop, based at Welcome Church, offers significantly discounted food and is open to anyone, regardless of income level. Members pay £5 per year to join and can shop for produce provided by groups including FareShare charity. Organisers hope to restore dignity for shoppers and provide long-term support, citing the need for reliable discounted food in the area. Over 250 people have already signed up ahead of the opening event on Thursday, with an estimated 1,000 families expected to join in the first year.
