Fri, 01 May 2026 Crayola toys recalled over possible asbestos contamination

People should stop using the products immediately and keep out of the reach of children, the government says.

* Two Crayola craft boxes have been withdrawn and recalled due to concerns that sand in the kits may be contaminated with asbestos.
* The affected products are the Crayola Touchy Feely Craft Box (also known as Sensory Craft Box) and the Crayola Discovery Craft Box.
* The Office for Product Safety and Standards says that the kits present a risk to health, even at low levels of asbestos contamination.
* Asbestos is banned in the UK because it poses a significant risk to health, and consumer group Which? has called the recall "a worrying trend".
* The Crayola kits were made in China and sold by retailers including Argos, Asda, Sainsbury's, and The Works.
* Retailers are recalling the products and advising customers to contact them for a refund.
* Consumers should stop using the products immediately and keep them out of reach of children.
* People who have used the products with sand should wear gloves and a mask to clean up sites where the sand was used, double bagging any contaminated materials.
* The recall is part of a larger trend of asbestos contamination in children's products this year.
