Mon, 11 May 2026 How driving test booking is changing for learner drivers

From 12 May, only learner drivers can book their own tests, not instructors.
Changes to Driving Test Booking
* From May 12, only test takers can book, change or swap their own driving test
* Instructors and others will no longer be able to book tests on behalf of students
* Existing booked tests by instructors are unaffected Booking and Management Guidelines
* Test takers must speak with their instructor to ensure they're ready for the test and get their reference number
* Only two changes can be made to a booked slot after March 31
* Changes include date, time, test centre, or swapping slots with another learner driver
* More than two changes require cancelling and rebooking, but refunds are available if cancelled at least 10 working days before the test Restrictions on Test Centre Moves
* From June 9, test takers can only move their test to one of three test centres closest to the original booked centre
* Only book a test centre you intend to use and choose a realistic date for when you'll be ready to take the test
