Mon, 11 May 2026 Ovo energy customers urged not to panic as takeover planned

All existing tariffs will be honoured in full under a planned deal that could create one of Britain's largest energy suppliers.
Existing Ovo customers have been reassured that their energy supply will remain unchanged despite E.On announcing plans to acquire the company. Regulators will review the deal, which could be worth up to £600m, before making a decision later this year. In the meantime, both companies have confirmed that existing tariffs and services will be honoured in full. Customers do not need to take any action and can still switch suppliers if they choose to do so. The merger would create one of Britain's largest energy suppliers, rivaling Octopus for top spot, but experts warn that larger suppliers may lead to reduced consumer choice. The takeover is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, pending regulatory approval.
