Ofcom said the commitments were of particular importance after recent crimes targeting Jewish communities in the UK.
* Social media platform X has committed to reviewing UK reports of suspected illegal hate and terrorist content within 24 hours on average.
* The company will also assess at least 85% of reports within 48 hours.
* X will submit performance data to Ofcom every three months for a year, so the regulator can monitor whether it is meeting the targets.
* Ofcom has set out two further commitments from X:
+ Engage with experts about reporting systems for such content
+ Withhold UK access to accounts reported for posting UK illegal terrorist content if operated by or on behalf of a terrorist organisation proscribed in the UK
* Experts and organizations have welcomed the updated targets, but also called for action to be taken against hate speech and online harm.
* Ofcom's investigation into X's AI tool Grok is ongoing, over concerns it was used to create sexualized images.
