Tue, 19 May 2026 Google to release first smart glasses since Google Glass flop

The glasses will go on sale sometime in autumn and allow Google's artificial intelligence product to interact with a user.
Google is reviving its smart glasses initiative over a decade after the failure of Google Glass in 2015. The new smart glasses will feature a small camera and speakers, enabling interaction with Google's AI product Gemini through voice commands. Two styles have been designed by Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for the release this autumn. Google stated that the smart glasses can provide hands-free assistance to users, working with both Android and iOS devices. According to Shahram Izadi, a Google executive, more information about an in-lens display version will be released later this year. The new smart glasses resemble Meta's offering of AI glasses, which have already sold seven million pairs despite raising concerns over privacy issues related to filming people without their knowledge or consent.
