The children's commissioner says child poverty in Jersey "is a big red flag" for the community.

* Dr Carmel Corrigan, Children's Commissioner for Jersey, says this is a "huge red flag" and affects access to education, housing, diet, and leisure activities.
* The cost of living in Jersey is at least 10% higher than in the UK.
* House prices are significantly higher in Jersey compared to other areas, including London, the south east of England, and Guernsey.
* Grocery prices are also higher in Jersey than in the UK.
* Many islanders struggle to cope financially, with 69% of single parents and 44% of working-age people living alone reporting difficulties.
* Some islanders say they may have to leave the island due to the cost of living.
* The head of Jersey's consumer council suggests that the government could explore solutions such as adjusting fuel duty or reviewing contracts with freight companies.
