Tue, 09 Jun 2026 Final piece of 'iconic' Denby Pottery signed

The firm, founded in 1809, appointed administrators due to rising energy and labour costs.
The final piece of Denby Pottery, which has been in production for centuries, has been signed by its original designer Richard Eaton after more than 35 years. The iconic Imperial Blue-glazed bowl was collected and autographed as the company closes down due to financial struggles caused by rising energy and labor costs. Founded in 1809, Denby Pottery's decision to appoint administrators in March led to a "Save Denby" campaign but ultimately failed to find a buyer. A petition urging support for British manufacturing jobs and skills has gained over 105,000 signatures, with local MP Linsey Farnsworth promising to fight for the pottery until the end. The company thanked its workers and customers, stating that despite closure, the love and craftsmanship poured into each piece would live on through Denby's legacy.
