Sun, 14 Jun 2026 Fund boosts support for financial struggles

The £300k fund will expand support for residents struggling with financial pressures in Devon.
The fund will provide emergency help and long-term support, with a dedicated Financial Advice and Support Team being created in partnership with South Hams District Council. Residents can apply for crisis payments for everyday essentials, with priority given to low-income households and Devon care leavers. Additionally, items such as electric blankets, warm clothing and slow cookers will be available later in the year. The funding aims to help people build financial resilience, confidence and independence. £20,000 has been allocated to West Devon CVS to coordinate local support and connect residents with services, while £20,590 was awarded to Homemaker Southwest for welfare benefits and debt advice.
