The founder says rising childcare costs mean many of those they help are in work but struggling.
* Demand for Hartlepool Baby Bank's services has never been higher, with around 150 families a week seeking help.
* This represents a tenfold increase since the organization opened in 2019 and is largely due to rising poverty levels in Hartlepool, where 27% of children are living in absolute poverty according to government figures for 2024/25.
* The bank was started by founder Emilie de Bruijn and her friends after they realized there was a need for such services in the community.
* Anyone can ask for help from the bank, ranging from advice to emergency deliveries of essentials like clothing and toiletries.
* Donations are welcome, particularly cots, toiletries, nappies, and maternity pads - even opened packets will be accepted.
* The organization has seen a significant increase in referrals, with 139 brand new families this year alone and over 2,000 repeat referrals.
