Tue, 16 Jun 2026 Struggling Pizza Hut chain to be sold for $2.7bn

The decision comes after a prolonged period of difficulty for the chain, which has faced increasing competition from a range of rivals.
Yum! Brands has agreed to sell its struggling Pizza Hut chain in a deal worth $2.7 billion (£2 billion). The sale includes the global brand outside of mainland China, which will be acquired by private equity firm LongRange Capital for $1.5 billion. Yum China Holdings will buy the Chinese operations for $1.2 billion. The decision comes after Pizza Hut's sales declined in the US market, where it has a significant presence. The chain is facing intense competition from rival pizza chains and mid-sized regional players that have adapted to changing consumer habits. The sale allows Yum! Brands to focus on its core brands, including KFC and Taco Bell.
