Thu, 18 Jun 2026 CrossCountry ranked Britain's worst train operator

Transport Focus asks it to reduce delays and provide better information during disruption.

* CrossCountry received the worst score in a passenger survey
* 72% of Birmingham-based CrossCountry's stops at stations were made within three minutes of the schedule over a 3-month period
* 7% of services were cancelled during this time
* 79% of passengers surveyed were satisfied with the service
* 77% reported being satisfied with punctuality and reliability, and 46% said they were satisfied with how delays were handled
* Transport Focus asked CrossCountry to improve passenger experience, reduce delays, provide better information during disruption and cut overcrowding on services
* Hull Trains achieved a satisfaction score of 94%, followed by LNER at 93%
* Overall, 87% of passengers reported being satisfied with their journey
* Disabled passengers were less satisfied than non-disabled passengers, with an 85% satisfaction rate
