Tue, 23 Jun 2026 Tension 'likely' in new government - ex-chief

Kristina Moore says she expects to see "some quite considerable clashes" between senior politicians.
Moore notes that Binet has consistently pushed for increased funding for health during his time as Health Minister, while others may favor reducing day-to-day government spending. She expects considerable clashes over the direction and means of implementing key projects, given the differing opinions on budget allocation. Senator Tom Binet told the BBC he "looks that way" when asked if he would again be appointed Health Minister. Moore's comments were met with a response from Binet, who clarified his campaign stance on reducing day-to-day government spending while increasing investment in Jersey. Patrick Lynch, head of poverty charity Caritas Jersey, emphasized the need for politicians with compassion and empathy to lead key ministries. He expressed concern over potential nominees Elaine Millar and Malcolm Ferey, citing their previous stances on the living wage. Both Senators Millar and Deputy Ferey disputed Lynch's characterization, arguing that his comments were misleading and misrepresented their views on the living wage. They stated they support the ongoing move towards a living wage. Farnham is expected to announce his ministerial team this week.
