The government will reduce tax from 20% to 5% on a range of attractions as schools begin to break-up.
* A temporary VAT cut will come into effect on Thursday, reducing prices at theme parks, zoos, museums, and kids' meals
* The 20% VAT rate will be reduced to 5% for these activities until September 1st
* However, some families, charities, and businesses are skeptical about the measure's effectiveness in helping with cost of living pressures
* Chancellor Rachel Reeves says the cut is designed to help families make "precious memories" without breaking the bank
* Estimated average savings per household will be around £10, according to a think tank director
* Businesses can choose whether or not to pass on the tax saving to customers, but some chains have said they will do so
* The scheme will cost the government around £300m and is expected to affect various attractions, including:
+ Theme parks (e.g. Legoland)
+ Zoos
+ Museums
+ Kids' meals served in restaurants
+ Cinemas, theatres, concerts, shows, and exhibitions
+ Adventure parks, nature reserves, and wildlife parks
* Free bus travel will also be available for children aged 5-15 in England
