Thu, 25 Jun 2026 GTA 6 - all you need to know about Rockstar's blockbuster game

Rockstar's sixth game in the franchise is set to be the biggest game release of the year.

* GTA 6 will feature Jason and Lucia as playable characters, with Lucia being the first ever female protagonist in a 3D setting.
* The game is set in a fictional US state called Leonida, which is Rockstar's version of Florida, and will include Vice City as the main city within the state.
* The story follows the pair in a Bonnie and Clyde-esque adventure through the seedy underbelly of America after an "easy score goes wrong".
* GTA 6 will be released on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no news yet on a PC version or Nintendo Switch release.
* The game's development costs are estimated to be over $1 billion (£866m), making it potentially the most expensive game ever made.
* Pre-orders opened on June 25, with players who pre-order able to begin pre-loading the game on November 12.
* The physical edition of the game will not contain a disc, but instead a code for a digital download inside a box.
* An ultimate edition is available, featuring extra vehicles and weapons, priced at £89.99 or $99.99.
* It's unclear whether an updated online mode will be released with GTA 6, although given the success of GTA Online, it's likely to exist at some point.
