He was accused of using money for a Netflix show on lavish purchases like Rolls Royces and Ferraris.
Hollywood director Carl Erik Rinsch, 48, has been sentenced to 2.5 years in prison and fined $700 after being convicted of defrauding Netflix out of $11m (£8.3m). Rinsch used the funds meant for a science fiction series to buy luxury items such as cars, cryptocurrency, and expensive mattresses. He was also ordered to pay $11m in forfeitures and face three years of supervised release. In court, Rinsch apologized for his crimes and accepted responsibility. Prosecutors claimed Rinsch took the money from Netflix and invested it personally, losing half within months.
