Queues are expected at airports this summer owing to EU's new digital border control system.

* Check arrival time advice with your airline, ferry or rail company in advance and build in extra travel time from home.
* Download any apps offered by airlines and familiarise yourself with where alerts appear so you don't miss out on notifications about current waiting times and changes.
* Read your travel insurance paperwork or speak to your insurer before you travel as policies may not cover delays caused by EES queues.
