Wed, 08 Jul 2026 Online marketplaces still selling dozens of unsafe baby products, Which? finds

Pillows, sleeping bags and feeders subject to safety notices were found on sites including Amazon and TikTok.
150 baby products with safety concerns were found on online marketplaces in the UK, including self-feeding devices, pillows and sleeping bags. These items have been subject to official warnings and product recalls by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS). The consumer group Which? investigated three types of products: sleeping bags, self-feeders and sleep pillows. They found that over a third of the 150 unsafe products were designed to feed a baby from a bottle with little or no assistance, despite an obvious risk of choking. Many of these products were available on several platforms despite OPSS alerts calling for their removal. The investigation also found sleeping bags with hoods or without armholes and sleep pillows marketed for newborns, which raise concerns about suffocation and overheating. The government is being urged to make online marketplaces liable for the safety of items sold on their sites. Most companies involved have removed some of the products highlighted by Which?, but the group says more needs to be done to ensure that these products are not available to consumers.
