The investor's decision comes weeks after Gates' appearance before US Congress over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

* Buffett has donated $47bn to Gates' charity over 20 years
* He "irrevocably" committed to donating shares in Berkshire Hathaway each year, but will now split the stock among four foundations involving his family members
* The remaining stock will be donated by December 31, 2034
* Buffett told CNBC he hadn't spoken to Gates since the Epstein scandal broke and didn't want to be called as a witness
* Gates Foundation says it's grateful for Buffett's support but continues with financial strength from Bill's $200bn commitment
