Wed, 15 Jul 2026 Buffett calls Bill Gates relationship with Epstein 'distasteful'

The billionaire investor's firm has stopped giving donations to the Microsoft co-founder's charity.

* Warren Buffett has stopped donating to Bill Gates' charity foundation after reading Gates' testimony to US Congress about his relationship with late sex offender Jeffery Epstein.
* Buffett described Gates' association with Epstein as "distasteful", but said he himself had made mistakes by being friends with people who turned out to be "not great".
* Despite stopping donations, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation still holds "very substantial resources" thanks in part to the $47bn donated by Buffett over the past 20 years.
* Buffett's decision to stop donating was not a surprise to Gates, and the two have had an ongoing friendship since meeting in 1991.
* Gates said that he should never have met with Epstein and that even if he had delivered promised donors, it would not have justified associating with him.
