Novo Nordisk has launched legal action accusing Eli Lilly of creating "misleading" ads, a claim its rival denies.
Novo Nordisk has filed a lawsuit against Eli Lilly, accusing its rival of false advertising and misleading patients through ads comparing their weight-loss drugs. The Danish company claims that Eli Lilly's ad campaigns intentionally selected outdated studies and omitted critical clinical context to make their products seem superior. Novo Nordisk says Eli Lilly compared the highest approved doses of their medicines with lower doses of Novo's, without mentioning newer, higher-dose options. The lawsuit alleges multiple violations of federal and state false advertising laws and seeks a court order requiring Eli Lilly to pull its ads and run corrective campaigns instead. In response, Eli Lilly defended its ad campaigns as truthful and transparent, based on scientific evidence.
