Thu, 23 Jul 2026 Government to cut business rates for pubs, clubs and music venues

Some hospitality firms will get a 20% discount from next April, saving an estimated £1,100.

* Pubs, clubs, and live music venues in England will receive a 20% cut to business rates from April
* Estimated savings for firms: £1,100 per year
* Government estimates the cut will cost £100m and be funded by reviewing tax relief on vape shops and online marketplaces
* Almost 32,000 venues are expected to benefit from the cut
* Details about which businesses are eligible will be announced at Chancellor John Healey's first Budget in autumn
* Some pub owners say the package does not go far enough to offset rising costs elsewhere
