Fri, 24 Jul 2026 Preston Bus still to decide on Burnham's £2 cap

The operator says it needs more details before deciding whether to join Andy Burnham's new scheme.

* Preston Bus charges £3.50 for a standard adult single fare after leaving the national cap in January.
* The bus company says it cannot confirm whether it will join the new government scheme capping single fares at £2 from January due to uncertainty over reimbursement arrangements.
* Preston Bus welcomed the announcement but stated that fare-cap schemes "must be fully funded" for operators and would assess the plan when reimbursement details are available.
* The bus company also withdrew off-peak journeys on several routes from Lancashire's £1 evening, Sunday, and bank holiday fare scheme in April due to reimbursement levels not being continued at the same level as 2025.
